According to police accounts, Fisk and Stephan were currently on parole. They knew the Beans as Stephan lived on the same street. The Beans were kidnapped at gunpoint early Monday morning and forced into their own car. Fisk and Stephan allegedly drove the Beans around Mecosta County to get money, before driving them to the 14000 block of Beardslee where they were murdered.

During their video arraignment, Stephan, 28, didn't say anything. Fisk, 25 asked the judge about taking a polygraph test.
